Sharon School holds education and hard work central to its teaching. I can see how important these two stand true even today in every project I undertake. I fondly remember these values because my alma mater inculcated it in me from a young age.
I never realised the gravity of the learnings from my school till I faced the world outside. Maintaining discipline, being respectful, working hard, being compassionate and living with integrity have been some core values that have been central to the school’s teachings. These values help me even today as I walk through life, learning like an enthusiastic student. I owe this to Sharon. I can never forget the constant encouragement and support I received from my teachers to be part of extra curricular activities that eventually led to my participation in inter-school events. These experiences made me a very confident individual right from a young age. I also fondly remember my class teachers. Throughout my schooling, they were there for my class, almost like a loving second mother.
Teaching is a work of the heart and I believe my school did it beautifully. Sharon School has inspired me to flourish into a tall tree seeking all the sun rays while keeping my roots just as strong. No wonder the red rose of the Sharon emblem will always hold a special place in my heart.
Ashvini is the founder and principal designer at Ashvini Menon Visual Design Studio. She holds a Masters Degree in Graphic Design from National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad. She is a strong supporter of sustainable development and also runs community-based projects to raise awareness on environmental issues.
