On September 16, 2022, Akshet Patel spoke to the outgoing batch of Std. 10 (2022- ’23) and urged students to think about life beyond Std. 10 in different and courageous ways. By sharing his own story and challenges he faced after std. 10, Akshet gently nudged students to think about taking less trodden paths and blazing a trail in their own ways. We present here a compilation of students’ reflections and thank you notes that they would like to send Akshet after having heard his story.
Akshet Patel is an incoming M.Sc in Robotics and Computation student at University College London (UCL), United Kingdoms, which is ranked 8th in the world by QS World University Rankings. He graduated from Manipal University Jaipur, Rajasthan with a Bachelor’s Degree focused in Mechatronics Engineering. His inclination towards science and research started in 2012 when he was a 7th grader at Sharon English High School which allowed him to participate in and win a number of competitions during his school times, opt for a lesser-known academic and career path, work with researchers and academicians from not only Government organizations and universities in India but also from countries like Canada, Singapore, Greece, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Serbia.

Yesterday a seminar was conducted in Sharon English High School by our ex- student Akshet Patel where he described his journey and his present condition . The seminar was extremely good. It was one of the best seminars I have ever attended as much useful information was given by Sir which tells us that ‘failure is a stepping stone to success’. As he said that he got 95.6% in the SSC board exams and then suddenly got 17/360 marks in JEE mains! But he still he didn’t give up and kept going and finally he has achieved a huge thing in his life. He also taught me that we should think twice before doing anything, not being a victim of peer pressure and make our own choices. He also spread awareness about the brainwashing game of classes by diverting the minds of children through various ways for just getting money. It gave me an idea that ‘ If there is a will there is a way’ for learning . Thank you so much Sir for sharing your experiences , you are just like our elder brother Thank You for lending us your precious time.
Thank You

It was an amazing experience to hear about Akshet’s Journey after 10th. We got to know how school teachers put forth their numerous efforts to just see us succeed. He also taught us that how failure can make us stronger. He also gave us the knowledge about various fields which can be taken for our career. The way he explained us his journey it inspired me to never give up on silly things and never be dependent on anybody blindly. Whatever we are right now it’s because of us and our teachers who guided us to be the one we want. He also cleaned the dust from my eyes about the classes, the business of coaching classes. Everything we are is because of our parents and our teachers. I am proud to be a ‘Sharonite’.

Yesterday, the seminar was pretty interesting. I learnt many good things . When he came and told about his life story , i could relate it to my own life . I came to know about other minor fields to pursue . I wanted to appear for JEE-MATHS and for that I started classes from 8th std. I too want to do robotic engineering. I got to know that, what if i can’t crack it like Mr. Akshet Patel. He was like a big brother to me . I totally enjoyed, I’ve more questions to ask him if he would come again from him I got a spirit in me that I can score good in board exams, I was scared as I do self study at home. Yesterday when I went home, first thing I did was give my tab to my mom and told her that to give it back to me only after boards as it was great distraction for me.
Thank You for your guidance

Dear Akshet ,
Std 10th is a very crucial year for every student we all are nervous . So, we need a mentor / a guide to motivate us /support us. No doubt, teachers are there for that but yesterday we were very encouraged by your life experiences.
Like you, I was also thinking of appearing for the JEE. My understanding was that, if we fail in JEE, then we fail in our life, but yesterday, you showed me that the less opted for or less travelled road makes the difference. I did not know about many fields/streams/courses in science. I only knew two , which is Engineering and MBBS . But yesterday, I was informed by you that there so many streams and more than 20 to 30 courses.
- Now I am able to find my way after 10th std.
- Now I am proud to be a Sharonite
- Now I am proud of my teachers.
- Now I am proud of my school.
- And very soon I want to be proud of myself like you are proud of yourself.
Thank You

I am extremely grateful for yesterday’s inspiring seminar on the importance of choosing your career. I even got to learn about so many new things. I got to learn about various opportunities in many fields available for the youth of today.
I learnt that we are the ones at the sail and we are the masters of our soul. We can choose the fields of our choice and we can basically say it is our right. On a different note, it also made me feel good to have someone admit the fact that they performed well at school but failed later, it taught me the importance of teachers. The speaker convinced me that teachers do really have potential to change our life.
I also received guidance on how I can choose my career in a better way. All in all, I really received guidance in a fun and enjoyable way.
The best part of yesterday’s seminar was the song the class suddenly filled with playful, positive and happy vibration and just found out my inclination towards music because of the notes you played and the song we sang.
Thank You, Akshet!

Yesterday, Akshet Patel, an alumnus of Sharon English High School made us understand all the ups and downs of life and how to gain success and get through the challenges we face in our life. He came as a student who wanted to share his experience but became an inspiration and a mentor for all of us. He made us understand that we must not give up even after failure. Through all his achievements, he inspired us. I would like to thank him for showing us a way to excel, despite all odds.
Thank you for motivating us!
Thank You
