To my alma mater

A person who is confident to speak in front of people; a person who is able to take responsibilities; a person who respects skills and virtues of other people and who is able to understand her own skills and strength as well as weakness.

This is the person I have become.

I feel a large part of the reason for this transformation is my school and its teachers. These are the hands that have worked in the background to make me ready to face the world outside.

Teachers as a Support System

Teachers are of great importance in a student’s life. They are the ones who prepare them for the future.

Personally, I have strong bonds with my teachers. They have always encouraged me and given me various opportunities to grow and develop. I have developed stronger interpersonal skills due to the interactions they facilitated in the classroom. I remember expressing my views without hesitation, on topics discussed in the classroom, only because of the appreciation I received from my teachers. Good relations with my teachers have also made me confident and a better learner

to my alma mater

In early June 2022, I participated in the student council elections held in the school for captaincy. When the results were announced, my heart swelled with pride. I was elected as one of the captains. I was on cloud nine and initially worked with new enthusiasm.  After a few weeks, I slowly realised that with great power comes great responsibility. I came to know the true responsibility of a captain and the expectations that one has to honour. I am glad that I went through it in a sincere manner with the help and support of my teachers. They were always there to make me understand my work and responsibility. The teachers at Sharon left no stone unturned to ensure we felt supported.

Role of co-curricular activities

Participation in various co-curricular activities, broadened my perspective, boosted my confidence and helped me hone my creativity. Thanks to the school management and the various co-curricular activities they organise, I got to know about my talents and skills after participating in events like elocution, debates and street plays. Winning a prize at an interschool Street Play competition really motivated me and helped me find my inner self. I think a balance of academics and participation in co-curricular activities, have helped me become a better leader too.

GRATITUDE

Teachers as a Support System

To my alma mater

I am really grateful to my school and teachers.

Thank you for helping me understand the difference between right and wrong; truth and falsehoods. As a  student I learnt from my teachers and looked to them for inspiration.

Thank you for being with me over the years from preschool to standard ten and opening a world of possibilities for me.

I will always think of school and my teachers with fondness.
